Statement of Intent

Spirit of 2012 has provided this website and Knowledge Bank as a resource to share learning from twelve years as a UK grant funder and thought leader on the social impact of events. The materials published here reflect insights generated by Spirit, our grant-holders, and research partners, and are intended to support continued efforts to maximise social impact through events, volunteering, and participation.

Our charitable objects are:

  • Advancing education of children and young people, including through sporting and cultural activities and by encouraging good citizenship.
  • Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the voluntary sector, by promoting public engagement in voluntary activities.
  • Promoting community development, encouraging people to engage in ways that provide charitable benefits to their communities.
  • Promoting greater understanding and meeting the needs of disabled people, encouraging social inclusion and building confidence through training and activities.

Users may access, use, reflect on, and build upon the resources provided, subject to the following conditions:

  • All materials must be acknowledged with appropriate provenance.
  • Copyright and intellectual property rights must be respected (see below for details on IP).
  • Content may not be used in a way that misrepresents Spirit of 2012’s work or charitable purpose.

By following these principles, you help ensure that the knowledge created during Spirit of 2012’s lifetime continues to inform and inspire positive social impact for the future.
