Project information

£120,000

Total Spirit grant

October 2023 – March 2025

Project duration

London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and Elevate Board

Grantee organisation

Elevate is a Legacy Youth Board made up and led by a dedicated group of 18–25 year olds, all based in the 2012 Olympic host boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) is the organisation behind Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, working to use the legacy of the London 2012 Games to develop opportunities for local people.

In partnership with LLDC and Spirit of 2012, the Elevate Board is leading on developing a programme to ensure the perspective and experience of young east Londoners continues to shape the legacy of the London 2012 Games.

As part of this project, they have launched the Elevate Fund, which will see events for local people and organisations at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the surrounding boroughs. Alongside this, research consultation will be undertaken with the aim to gain a better understanding of how young people view the legacy 20 years on, with engagement to take place across the four boroughs.

Project aims

  1. To gather insight on legacy to date and potential future legacy to contribute towards ongoing thinking in this space.
  2. To ensure that the future legacy remains relevant to young people and the diverse local communities living in East London boroughs which hosted the London 2012 Games.
