Helping grantees reach their target audiences: a guide for grant managers
From project design through delivery and closure, making sure that you’re reaching the people you’re targeting. As a grant manager, how can you help your grantees be successful?
This short, practical guide was published in 2019 by Spirit of 2012, based on a study of evidence from its grantees.
The people who would benefit most from participating in the type of activities that Spirit of 2012, such as inclusive sports, community cohesion or inclusive arts activities are often the people who are more challenging to engage.
Thinking about this beforehand, and understanding why people are more challenging to engage will help address some of these challenges.
The six-page guide outlines the initial steps for ensuring that grantees are reaching the individuals and groups that will most benefit from their activities or services, such as reaching inactive people. It includes a series of questions to frame discussions with grantees during a brief meeting at the outset of a partnership between grant-maker and grantee.
